Bio
Note: Silpelits are Diclonii that cannot reproduce, instead propagating by infecting humans with the Diclonius virus via their vectors. The manga also states that they age faster than humans and normal Diclonius, explaining Nana's childish antics while she has the body of a 12-14 year old. 'Silpelit' is also the name of a character of an opera by the author of the Elfen Lied song, also mentioned in that song itself. Some "queen bee" diclonii who mate with humans produce silpelits, while others simply "water out" the diclonius DNA until the horns and vectors are smaller/shorter.
Nana may look fourteen, but her actual age is of seven years old. It's kind of ironic because her name in Japanese means the number seven. She's been known to be called as "Nana" through out the Diclonii research facility she had spent most of her days in.
A Diclonius is a strain of human mutation, and most of Nana's race are killed as soon as they are born. While the majority of the Diclonii are homicidal at default, Nana is an exception. She wouldn't dare kill a human willingly.
To find some sanity in the torturous and traumatic experiments the doctors and their assistants put her through, she believed that chief Kurama was her "papa." In a way, she is, for she's a surrogate daughter, raised in such captivity. She only endured such horrible things because she did it for her papa. She wanted to make him proud by being brave. The Diclonii childen, the handful of them, are completely isolated from the rest of the world.
Kurama then assigned Nana to find a Diclonius who had escaped the research facility. Her name was Lucy, and Kurama worded it that it was a favor he needed to ask of Nana. Nana in return wanted to do this favor to make him happy. Diclonii can telepathically sense one another if they're in the same area range. Kurama needed a Diclonius to track down Lucy, and Nana happened to be it, for she was the only one who can follow any given instructions without worries of getting killed the second Nana sees them.
Diclonii have invisible arms that can go through anything known as vectors. Each Diclonius is different, partly because of their vectors. When Nana eventually found Lucy, Lucy didn't want to negotiate and gave her a warning by a vector slap and was told to go home. This lead to a fight, and Lucy had discovered that Nana's vector's were longer than hers. (Lucy's four vectors are two meters long, while Nana's four are five meters long.) Nana was slightly superior to Lucy in than sense, but Lucy won over her in strength. Lucy can pick up heavy objects and throw them, while Nana could not. Nana's never really used her vectors, and never really fought before in her life.
Nana's mistake to try and capture Lucy without help had cost Nana her arms and legs. Lucy dismembered her. Kurama got over just in time to rescue Nana from getting killed. Lucy got away again and Nana was brought back to the only home she knew.
She was given a sedative to be put to sleep, and Kurama was given orders by Director General Kakuzawa to kill her. The surrogate father instead helped her by giving her new prosthetic limbs, and sent her away with instructions to find someplace safe to hide, someplace far away. Nana was to wait for him in that safe place. Kurama had convinced himself that Nana could be the Diclonius who would be able to survive from the rest.
This is around the time when Nana is brought in for most roleplay purposes (well, sometime after that anyway). She's just adjusted to her new artificial but real looking limbs.
Additional Appearance Traits: Most Diclonii are female, with pink hair and eyes that are different shades of red. Nana has short pink hair with pink eyes. Diclonii also have one other thing that seperates them from normal humans; the bone protrusions sticking out of their heads that look like horns. Nana's horns stick out the sides of their heads, looking like a pair of white and hard, unmoving cat ears.
Nana's artificial limbs tend to fall off from time to time if she's not paying attention to them. Apparently her papa was in a hurry to set her free that he didn't have time to make them stay on permanently.
Personality: Nana by her true nature is empathetic and kind to others. As mentioned before, she'd never turn her own vectors on any human, and the same would go for any creature who wouldn't harm her. Nana doesn't know much about the outside world, but sometimes make herself believe she did. Her lack of knowledge about the outside world makes her a little timid at other times. She's eager to learn, though. Often she's sweet and naive around the more innocent and good folks. Or rather, who she thinks is a good person.
If someone provoked her enough and hurt her in the head, a split personality would emerge. Lucy also has a split personality, but it's actually a little more child-like and immature to Nana's default personality. Nana's split personality is pretty much the opposite of the other. If hurt badly enough, she'll come off as cold and vicious in a trance-like state.
Nana is from an Anime series and manga known as Elfen Lied. I do not own this character, but only write as her just for entertainment and roleplaying purposes. I make no profits doing so.
